My first and only job was baking. I began my career working as a pastry chef in Vermont and then co-founded a bakery in West Concord, Massachusetts. I was the pastry version of a postman… I worked through rain, blizzards, holidays, and three pregnancies.  My babies were always at my side while I made cakes, croissants, cookies and scones. The long night hours finally got to me, and I decided to hang up my apron so I could be at home with my children. My love of baking never left, however, and nothing ever grabbed me like standing in a kitchen filled with stacks of eggs, pounds of butter, and buckets of sugar and flour. I was trying very hard to just be a mom, but I couldn’t ever refuse making treats. Finally, the realization: I could combine what I love most – being a mom to three crazy kids with creating delicious and beautiful confections. babycakes and confections was born. This mom was back in business.

babycakes and confections opened in for business in 2005 in our home, and moved in August, 2010 into its very own commercial kitchen at the Stow Minute Man Air Field. My children now bike to my studio with their friends to see what’s baking, I finally have space for all of my gadgets, and our countertops in our kitchen at home are finally clutter-free. My children continue to grow, and while my two younger children still like to show up to school with pink boxes, my teenager would be mortified at the suggestion of bringing a pink box into school. As much things have changed over the past five years, one thing that hasn’t changed a bit is the fact that my family continues to be my biggest fans and my loudest, proudest supporters.

It’s love in a pink box.
